M. J. Ervin Light & Shadow

My work is pretty straight-forward as far as technique and media are concerned: oil on canvas applied with steel painting knives. These pieces are often begun in their natural setting as a pochade (French for “rough sketch”) which is later enlarged in the studio. The pochade is a reference for light effects.
